« Is it not by the remembrance of Allah that hearts find rest? » (meaning of the verse, Ar-Ra'd 13:28)

Dhikr means remembering Allah with the tongue and with the heart. The Quran promises it: « Remember Me, and I will remember you » (Al-Baqara 2:152). The scholars recommend saying these supplications in the morning, between Fajr and sunrise, and in the evening, between Asr and Maghrib. A few minutes is enough.

1. « We have reached the morning »

« We have reached the morning, and the dominion belongs to Allah. Praise be to Allah. There is no god but Allah, alone, without partner. » (Sahih Muslim, no. 2723)

In the evening, one says amsayna wa amsa al-mulku lillah "Here we are at evening…".

2. The master of seeking forgiveness

"O Allah, You are my Lord, there is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant. I keep to Your covenant and Your promise as much as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil I have done. I acknowledge Your blessings upon me and I acknowledge my sin: forgive me, for none forgives sins except You."

The Prophet ﷺ said: whoever says it in the morning with conviction and dies that day enters Paradise; likewise in the evening (Sahih al-Bukhari, no. 6306).

3. Under the protection of the name of Allah, three times

"In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing causes harm, neither on earth nor in heaven. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing."

Nothing will harm him until evening, or until morning (Sunan Abi Dawud, no. 5088; Jami' at-Tirmidhi, no. 3388).

4. The three protective surahs, three times

Al-Ikhlas (Qul huwa Allahu ahad), Al-Falaq and An-Nas, three times in the morning and three times in the evening: "that is sufficient for you against everything" (Sunan Abi Dawud, no. 5082; Jami' at-Tirmidhi, no. 3575).

5. Glory and praise, one hundred times

« Glory and praise be to Allah. »

One hundred times in the morning and evening: no one will bring anything better on the Day of Judgment than this, except someone who has said the same or more (Sahih Muslim, no. 2692).

Before sleeping

Recite the Verse of the Throne (Ayat al-Kursi, Al-Baqara 2:255): a guardian from Allah protects you until morning (Sahih al-Bukhari, no. 2311).

To avoid forgetting

  • Keep them after Fajr and after Asr, even while sitting in the mosque.
  • Start with one or two, then add the others: « the deeds most beloved to Allah are the most consistent, even if they are few » (Sahih al-Bukhari, no. 6464).
  • The daily reminder of Dalil, under the Fajr alert, offers you one each morning: write alerts on WhatsApp.
